Quick Update

Everything is going as planned, we have established/built our office and have moved in. As planned we are working hard on some very important changes that we felt are completely necessary for us to continue. We are working hard to bring an amazing Notification system that will play really nicely with your Inbox as to your chosen options. We are also closing in on a great File sharing system that will really help the application shine. After that we are going to do some extensive user testing, and User Interface revamping until we get it just right. Once all that fun stuff i done and the application is flawless you can expect reviews from some of the biggest name in the online blogging world and massive adoption from users using every other project management system!

Stay tuned as we work hard to bring you a Project Management system that will truly replace all of the other PM systems out there wink in one felt swoop.

Sincerely,
Enavu Team

Two new members joining the Freedcamp Team!

Good News,

We have had the opportunity to gain 2 new members in our team. Let me start by introducing our new members:

Adam Jones - “I’m a web developer living outside of Boston, Massachusetts. I work as an IT Specialist at IBM, developing Rich Internet Applications, Information Architecture, and IT Consulting.”
Dan Kruse - “I work at iFractal building software for some of the largest companies in the world. I live in Philadelphia and i am an User Experience Specialist.”

They both have experience working on Web Applications like freedcamp and they are going to be of huge help to get us ready for a final official launch end of this summer. We are VERY glad to have two amazing developers in our team and are looking forward to their contributions.

Thanks,
Angel Grablev

We have taken registrations down

Hello dear Freedcamp user,

We have taken our beta down until we release the final Freedcamp version in a couple of months. There are a lot of cool features we have been working on and we want to perfect those add the rest of the features the application needs, make it stable and then we will officially launch.

You can expect the following features from our official launch:

File Uploading (in comments anywhere and discussions)
Marketplace (where you can get free applications or purchase paid ones, get new Themes/Templates, and get new Widgets for your Dashboard)
New Dashboard (widget based dashboard where you can see any type of information you want, from the Todo items due that day to your Google Analytics stats)
Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn Integration
Basecamp Import

and much much more!

So stay tuned, and we will try to keep you updated! By end of summer though freedcamp will be what all the buzz is about.

We are taking Beta Tester applications so email me at agrublev AT gmaildotcom and i can invite you to use the application in beta mode.

Thanks,
Angel Grablev

New Deployment Schedule, and new Interface Plans

Hey everyone,

After the beta launch we kept releasing things under the radar. Whether it was a quick fix of a link that wasn’t working, or a whole new BreadCrumbs bar. But now that we are getting closer to a 99% stable version, and have quite a few new features in store we have decided to start conforming to a much more stable release schedule and style. This means we will post a blog entry with a list of changes every time we decide to release a new version. That way we can keep track of what the progress is, and you get to know what has been changing and if the things you wanted addressed are fixed/added.

We have also developed an exciting new interface for the application. The new interface will streamline the process of doing pretty much every task imaginable faster. The reason? After designing quite a few interfaces, i have found the current design of most online Web Applications to be sufficient but not optimal. For example in most online Applications you will find a good deal of grouping, by grouping im referring to keeping certain actions, options, and so forth close to each other. At any rate, the mock-ups are being finished as i write this, and the new interface should start surfacing soon, no worries the old design will remain in the app, and you will have a choice of which interface to use. Also the old interface will stay current with all changes to the functionality of the application. However this new interface brings a whole new Template system. Currently we have a great theme system, but with the Template system we are hoping to allow ANYONE to create custom rich interfaces for our application!

Yours truly,
Angel Grablev

Another one bites the dust

Since we are a Project Management system we like to stay updated with all the other Project Management systems out there. A recent addition to the PM realm was Project Bubble. It offered pretty decent FREE project management. As of a week ago they have added a Pricing Plan… limiting the number of clients you can have. Well now the field of Free Project Management is empty yet again! Read More about the pricing of Project Bubble.

What have we done since launch

Even though you may not see daily fixes that didn’t affect you in the first place you have to realize our first priority is not adding new features but fixing things to make sure your experience is flawless.

This means that for the most part we fix anything you report first then we go and add cool helpful features. But i wanted to quickly stop by and mention some new things we have fixed/added.

We have fixed the forgot password because some people were experiencing problems. We have added a feature that allows you to minimize Todo groups, that way you can view the important to you groups. And a bit of other little bugs we had to take care of.

Our user base seem to be rising nicely so thank you all for the support.

Angel

What’s to come

Well the beta has turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to freedcamp. First of all THANK YOU ALL for being so helpful with reporting bugs, suggesting features, and just giving you opinion and advice. We have carefully read through everything we received, and have assigned To-Do’s and Discussions in honor of every single one of your suggestions. So if you suggested anything there is 90% chance you will see it whenever we remove the beta tag, or much much earlier.

Even though i don’t have time to go through every suggestion and what we think about it, i did want to talk briefly what you will definitely be seeing coming up.

First of all definitely better time management, easier and much more features in that area. That does include a Start-Stop timer, Export your time sheet into CSV files. Ability to bill for past week, past month, current project and so forth. We may play with a desktop app once the API is finished (coming soon).

Secondly we had a lot of great little suggestions about better ways to organize the information presented to you (mainly referring to the dashboards), the idea in the suggestion was to make the dashboard more relevant to what’s happening RIGHT NOW, and whats important to you! That means seeing more of the Todos assigned to you, seeing things that are due today, tomorrow, this week, or just all together. We will use this opportunity to work on the Notification System which does work, but it emails you on EVERYTHING that happens. We have in the works a system that is a glorified subscription system, where you can subscribe to To-Do’s, Discussions. Also people can subscribe you so that you receive notifications. Not sure when this will come in play but hopefully in the next couple of months.

Files, well we have files in our near future. They will integrate with basically everything. Files will have versions, which will save us designers a lot of work… a little system to make sure all version of our files are kept in a safe place. While we are in beta there will most likely be no file size limitations, however once beta tag comes off we will have extremely minimal fees as to having more storage, we simply cannot afford to host Terabytes of information.

Applications, Addons, and Widgets. Although the names and functionality is in one freedcmap project discussion, where we keep shooting comments back and forth; the general idea is one. With our api, and developer authentication it will be VERY easy to make applications for Freedcamp. These applications, addons, and widgets will all contribute to the most customizable experience on the internet. We believe no one person, or 100 can build the perfect Collaboration platform so we will let everyone to be able to create Themes, Widgets, Applications. Of course we expect development to be rather slow at first as people start investing their time in helping out, but since php is the most used language on the internet im sure we will find a way!

Thanks again for all your help, if you suggestion was not listed above do know we have addressed it and it will most likely be implemented!

Update on our progress

Well we just hit a big milestone in both beta sign ups and development. Seeing all this amazing attention from you guys has made me decide to give you an update on our progress.

We currently have finished all the main functionality of the beta version of our app. Design is being implemented to the app with improvements to make sure this app is as easy to use as possible. We are adding features on a daily bases with bug fixes. Since words can only describe a little of the progress here is a screenshot!!

Remember this is only a preview i decided to give to you, it is not a final product or even the latest build. But it should give you a taste of whats to come!!!

Can you smell the beta?

We have been working hard since the alpha, we have added a plethora of new features and fixed a bunch of bugs. A complete redo on todo’s, they still work similarly to the alpha but now they are cleaner leaner and ready to be used by all of you. We are in the finishing stages of milestones and time tracking. We are trying hard to finish up the big portion of things by this Sunday, and maybe launch beta in the upcoming 2 weeks. Also we are working on an awesome new design for freedcamp so the beta comes with a whole new awesome redesign. Stay tuned things are going to happen rather quick this year, as we don’t want to keep you hanging for much longer.

As far as the beta is concerned we are planing to only add features to it, and rarely take it down. This means we don’t fully suggest starting huge hardcore projects just yet, but don’t be a stranger either.

Thanks, and stay tuned smile

The alpha is closed, thank you for your feedback

We realize the alpha was decently limited features wise, but we wanted to clear up any bugs in our main features rather than give you access to all the features and then have to deal with more than we can handle. Anyways we received so much feedback with analytics and what not so we are clearing bugs like no other. The beta is this much closer to being ready for about a thousand of you. Anyways without saying too much a lot of new features have been added, a lot of usability has been improved and we feel like this is gonna be an amazing year for enavu and freedcamp especially. Get excited… we are.
